2026 Preservation Month

Preservation Month is celebrated nationally each May and serves as a reminder of the significance of safeguarding our historical sites, landscapes and cultural heritage.

This year, Historic Augusta (HAI) is hosting a monthlong series of engaging programs, including a Peep & Eat visit, community events, and a creative workshop!

Our efforts aim to inspire HAI members and the Augusta community to take an active role in preserving our historical places and stories.

Kick-Off Preservation Month with Happy Hour at Emil's!

HAI Members are invited to a celebratory happy hour at Emil’s, a newly renovated café and taproom on Broad, to kick off Preservation Month. Join us in supporting our local community while mingling with HAI staff, Board members, and fellow members!

Enjoy 20% discount from the Wilson Museum gift shop!

Members receive a 20% discount for all purchases though the Wilson House gift shop. As always, purchases and proceeds benefit the mission of Historic Augusta.

*Discounts for the Augusta Book are not included.**

Mingle with friends at our annual Cotton Ball!

Join us at the historic Lamar-Wallace-Hill House for our annual membership party. Enjoy live music, a delicious meal, and our signature mint julep drinks in a classic historic setting. This is an outdoor garden party event for our members.

Join us at the Historic Cotton Exchange for an exclusive look!

Located at 8th and Reynolds Street the Historic Cotton Exchange has new owners who have a strong vision for rehabilitation. Stop by for a behind-the-scenes look and a tour by Michael Wolff—and feel free to bring your lunch!

Celebrate Preservation with a guided painting workshop!

Experience Augusta’s history through art in this outdoor painting workshop, presented in partnership with the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art. Set at the historic Wilson House, participants will paint on-site while receiving guided instruction in composition, light, and architectural detail from local artist Alex Foltz.
